NOW now 2009 Festival Program Launch
In 2009 the festival will again be held in the Blue Mountains from
16th-18th of January, based around the Wentworth Falls School of
Arts, with a packed line up of some of the sickest improvising talent
in the country, and a few from out of it. There will be gigs at
Kings Cave in Linden (one at dawn), late night events at AKEMI, some
historic films, unscheduled jammimg into the wee hours and sonic kite
flying in a park.
The festival program will be launched at a free concert on November
24th, featuring three performances.
Anthea Caddy (cello) / Thembi Soddell (electronics), whose CD ILAND
is one of the classics of exploratory music from Australia - two
young Melbourne women redefining what it means to play with
instruments and recorded sound.
Jack Dibben / Finn Ryan / Abel Cross / Aemon Webb ? four of the
best looking sonic explorers in Sydney form a boy band from hell.
+ Lloyd Swanton: a rare solo performance by Sydney's master double
bassist. His work with The Necks has for years been a sensuous anchor
- come and hear him up close and alone.
Discounted festival passes will be available on the night, and the
program - featuring extraordinary international and Australian
musicians, new collaborations, rare films about experimental music
from Sydney.
